HALO
User Experience and Interface design
As an interaction designer, I had to generate and develop concepts for Mahindra Reva's next generation production vehicle; a sub 4 meter electric sports car. The project started with establishing the target audience and future forecasting for the technological trends in the automotive sector. Data mining, user survey followed by in-person interviews were the tools used to get a better understanding of this user group.
The design output involved the physical and digital interface design comprising of 2 screens (central and speedometer), steering mounted controls and a central tunnel housing the primary controls of the car. The concept car was displayed at the Indian Auto Expo in 2014.

The central tunnel serves as the control hub for the car, housing the driving control and a scroll based control for the central screen. For easy ingress and egress, the floor space was kept free and the height of the tunnel low enough for a person to pass from the driver's seat to the passenger's in the scenario of tight parking.
Understanding the needs of the target user group, the central tunnel was provided with docking space and a charging unit for 2 medium sized mobile devices. Having a range of 160+ kms, it helps the user utilise the extra battery charge on the move in intracity travel.
A multimodal interface (touch, scroller and voice input) accessible through two screens allows the user to have their personalised way of interacting with the vehicle.
